Encouragement

Recently I signed a contract for a new novel. It was later that day when I realised that this was my 20th novel. I remembered when I was first published, that was 1978. I shall never forget that day, John could not settle at work and had to come home, he rushed out and bought me a bottle of champagne. It was magical.

Last Saturday we celebrated our 36th wedding anniversary - the two are connected. If it had not been for John I would never have tried to publish anything. I would still be writing but I would be shoving the stuff that I wrote into a suitcase that lives in the attic. It is connected that I married John in 1972 and published in 1978, for he made me start to take myself seriously. Encouraging me, reading my work and coming up with good suggestions.

If it is true that there is a good woman behind every successful man, then the reverse is true too. John truly is the wind beneath my wings.

Margaret.

What a lovely post! Congrats on your anniversary, new contract and 20th published novel. What wonderful reasons to celebrate! Mostly, though, congratulations on having found a man who enriches your life the way John obviously does. I love seeing love in action, off the pages. Thirty six happy years is certainly a testament to love. :)

What an inspiring post. I'm so happy you've had that validation and encouragement for 36 years. Twenty novels in 30 years is an amazing accomplishment as well. Congratulations to you both.
